Andrew Hively

Andrew has been playing acoustic and electric guitar for over 35 years. As a teenager he played in different rock bands around the southeast Michigan area and started writing and recording his own instrumental music. Since that time, Andrew has recorded 10 instrumental guitar albums and has played on various other projects by Oak Pointe Church and Ephesus Music. He also continues to play live as a solo instrumentalist at parties, weddings, restaurants, and other events as well as the lead guitarist for The Detroit Drive. Andrew also plays lead guitar in the worship band at Community Bible Church in Brighton.

Andrew started teaching at School for the Arts in 2014 and enjoys teaching and sharing his passion with students of all ages. He believes in customizing the lesson for the individual student and writes the curriculum based on the goals that the student wants to achieve. Andrew believes in making sure the student knows what they need to know to be a well rounded musician but also that they are having fun during the process. Andrew teaches beginner to advanced acoustic and electric guitar.
