As a soloist, she has performed around the world, including appearances at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, and Orchestra Hall. Ann Marie Theis received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance, with a minor in piano, from Michigan State University. After graduating from Michigan State, she worked at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as an Associate Instructor of Voice and Assistant Director of the Graduate Opera Theater Workshop. During her time at Indiana, she studied voice pedagogy and developed a passion for teaching young voices. This passion led her back to the K–12 classroom, where she taught middle school and high school choir and theater for five years. Her choirs regularly received Division I ratings at Michigan School Vocal Music Association choral festivals. In addition to her work in music education, Ann Marie spent four years working in finance and technology as a relationship manager, consultant, and corporate trainer. Her consulting experience focused on user experience design and helping make financial concepts and technology more accessible and easier to understand. Her background in both education and business has strengthened her ability to communicate complex ideas in engaging and approachable ways. Ann Marie has also received awards and recognition from the GRAMMY Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, and Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History for her creative and innovative teaching. She has experience teaching secondary general music, early childhood music, and ASD music, and has presented at district and statewide music conferences. Ann Marie currently maintains her Michigan K–12 music teaching license. I’ve led university-level ensembles and perform regularly at local rock shows, giving me a wide range of real-world experience both on stage and in rehearsal settings. As a teacher, I work with students of all ages and skill levels, tailoring lessons to each individual’s goals. My approach strikes a balance between strong fundamentals and creativity, enabling students not only to build technique but also to develop the confidence to enjoy making music in any setting. Choose from multiple instruments, including piano, strings, and more. Lessons focus on developing core musical skills such as technique and music reading, using repertoire tailored to the student’s individual goals and interests. Students enrolled in private lessons benefit from weekly or biweekly one-on-one instruction and opportunities to perform in studio and school-wide recitals. Musical Instruments INSTRUMENTS Banjo, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, piano, ukulele, and more COST $30 - $70 per visit + $15 signup fee # OF WEEKS 30 - 60 minutes per visit AGES 4 and up NOTES Students participating in SFTA music classes that feature a performance component will be required to take part in a placement audition, which will determine each student’s role or contribution during our upcoming musical presentations. Enrollment in an SFTA music performance class ensures every student will be included in the ensemble, allowing everyone to share their musical talents on stage. Placement auditions will take place during regular class time and are thoughtfully designed so the instructional team can match students with parts and opportunities that align with their unique musical strengths and interests.     As a songwriter and musician, Brianna is passionate about the power of the arts to bring people together, spark creativity, and deepen faith. Alongside her role at School For The Arts, she is also an elementary teacher, a job that brings her immense joy and fulfillment. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. Outside of School for the Arts, Brianna enjoys photography, graphic design, and writing, but most of all, she cherishes time with her husband and daughter, Lacey.
